I purchased these from a guy who rehabs speakers. He made the following modifications: he added mass to the Woofer magnet , he reinforced the woofer frames, he recapped the crossovers, he braced the cabinets and installed five way binding posts so you can plug-in banana plugs.
He also re-doped the cloth woofer surrounds to maintain a sealed box. About a half a year ago both tweeters stop working. I tested them and they had comparable resistance so I installed these Polk tweeters. I added gasket material between the speaker and the cabinet to keep it sealed. They’re not pretty, they don’t have grill covers. The one woofer cone has a repair, but they sound far better than most of what’s available at this price point.
