This boom box, model JVC PC – D55W is more like a portable stereo than a “boom box”. The speakers are removable and the components are separable. The tuner, (PC – R55W) has AM, FM, SW1, and SW2 bands and is quite powerful pulling in stations. It even still has the antennas.
The integrated amp (PC – R55W) contains a five band graphic equalizer for precise tone control. It has inputs for an external tape deck and a phono stage. The cassette deck (PC – D55W) is a very impressive piece of equipment. It has all features and sound as good as most home audio cassette decks. The cassette LCD display suffers from the same issues as most of these systems. You can still read the information but certain bars won’t display properly. I read about a repair for this common problem online so it can be fixed if someone were so inclined. I haven’t seen a single one of these machines that doesn’t have this issue and it doesn’t seem to affect value so much.
